Wenzao UE3B speech homework by Linda Chen (1093200117)

Subject: Wenzao UE3B speech homework by Linda Chen (1093200117)

TEXT: I think my strengths as a speaker are I always have enough preparations before my speech and I have collect enough information to support my idea in the speech. However, I get nervous easily and I always stutter when I get nervous, that is a problem for me to clearily deliver the information I want to include in my speech. Because of my nervous, I can not have a strong eye contact with the audiences while I delivering my speech. So the three primary aspects of speechmaking I think I have to improve the most are to increase my self-confidence, and by improving my self-confidence I could also couquer my nerous while I am giving my speech. The third is I need to have strong eye contact with the audiences in order to know if they understand my speech or not.

I've given a speach in public when I was in senior high.It was a speach competition, everyone had given a draft to memorize it and this was first part of it. The second part was we have to pick up a topic in randomly and only got 5~7minutes to prepare for the speach. This experience had made me realized that I'm only good at memorizing the draft or lines which've already given. In another words, I'm lack of ability of organizing the imformation which I'm trying to deliver, once it happen in the reality,I'll get panic and stammer,I hope I could overcome this one day.

I have never thought that I will give a speech in public. Hence, it is kinda like a nightmare to me. Excepting fear and nervousness and sweat. There is nothing else exists in my mind at that moment. What about my own strengths as a speaker? I keep asking myself. Is that possible for me to be a speaker in public and face the audience? I cannot wait to run away from them. This year, I think, how to overcome stage fear would be my primal concern. I am lack of training in speech, I do not know how to make a speech highly structured so it will be the reason why I am in this class now. If I consider this is part of my strengths in the future.

The homework from Coco Chang

Subject: The homework from Coco Chang

My name is Coco Chang from UE3B. I am going to talk about my strengths and weakness while I am doing the speech. First I am going to talk about my strength. I think I will have eye contact with my audiences, and I won't look at the roof or the floor. And I will try my best to make my speech clear; the audience won't feel they do not understand my speech. The last one of my strength is I think I have good pronunciation and I talk smoothly. Nobody is perfect. So of course I have weakness. Sometimes I will be too nervous, so that my hands will shake while I am holding a paper or something, which will make me even more nervous. The second one is I will always try to remember the script which I am going to say. If I forgot one word, my brain would become empty and don't know what to say. And the last one, I think I lack of humor, I don't know how to make my speech more funner. Here are some improvements that I think I can do. I will take a deep breath while I feel nervous. And I will try to understand what I should say instead of remember it. And the last one about humor, I think I can try to deliver my topic in a different way, I should prepare more about my topic. This is the end of my speech, thank you very much.

Subject: UE3B Clay Hsu 1093200069

As a speaker, I have found that I usually get nervous when talking in fornt of others, especially the ones I don't know them well. And when I get nervous, I start shaking and forgetting what I was going to say. I don't know how to avoid becoming nervous but I think I can stop shaking and forgetting things by practicing speaking skill frequently. Antother problem I have is writting the script for my speech. I don't know how to write a good script for a speech since I didn't have many chances to gaive a speech. I usually wrote my script for a speech like a script for a conversation. I think I need to write more scripts to improve my wrinting skill. One more problem I have is that I can't memorize the script well. I always forget what I was going to say since I am not good at memorizing, especially when I get nervous. This problem is the biggest one. Because the listener are expecting me to say something but I have to remember what I am going to say next, it takes time and I can tell that the listeners are getting impatient, which makes me more nervous. I have no idea how to fix the problem and I hope that I can fix the problem through this course. unfortunately, my strength are not as much as my weakness, I can't think any of my strength I have as a speaker. If I have to think one, I will say my voice are louder than most of other speakers. With the only strength I have, the listeners caould hear me clearly, only if they are interested in my topic and I have pronounced the word correctly, otherwise the strength won't have any use in my speech.

When we have group presentations in the class. I am usually the presenter. As a speaker in front of the class many times. I still feel nervous almost every time. But with the increases of public speaking experiences, I learned how to interact with the audience well and control the time limit. Also, I think my pronunciation is clearly. However, when I speak , I will forget what the next I should say because of nervousness. And I always repeat the particles such as Huh, Well...etc. many times during the speech time. Also, when the audience ask me the questions, sometimes I can not answer the question. That is because I didn't prepar well. I think I need more different kind of speaking experiences to overcome my nervousness, and I should be well prepared every time to avoid saying particles. Last, I have to understand the subject what I talk about very well that I can give the answer to the audience anytime.

I conside public speaking is so difficult for me. First, i would be nervous when im giving a speech, so i totally don't know what am i taking about. Second, i would be bewildered when im standing on the stage to give a speech, especially, english speech. Third, i always wish i can present a perfect presentation. And this kind of though make me tense when im speaking. However, i still try my best. I always tell myself be confident and i must prepare wel before the presentation. I would organize what am i going to say to my audiences. This semester, i would be trained how to speak in public and i hope i can give the speech flently with nerousness....and be confident.
