Self-evaluation for speech of value
Frankly speaking, I really enjoyed preparing this value speech. At first, I still had the dilemma of choosing topic because I want to choose the topic which is really close to our daily life. Instead of those broad and serious topics, such as euthanasia or death penalty, I chose fast food as my value speech topic. Afterwards, I started to do the research on it by collecting much information, statistics, and started to concern about the relationship between fast food and the society. I deeply felt that the process is beneficial for me, because I learned much information that I have never known before and also broaden my horizons with doing the research. For example, I was surprised with the statistics and numbers which showed how fast food has increasingly grown in this society. I think this is also a good opportunity for me to know more about this issue, for we don’t always particularly absorb this kind of information so detail. Besides, I can practice organizing and analyzing those information in my value speech. Therefore, when I was delivering the value speech, I had a strong desire in my mind, and I want to convince and inform my audience that fast food is bad to the society with my strong arguments and evidence. Actually, I am satisfied with my performance this time, including the way I delivered, my draft, and the eye-contact. Interestingly, what I really care and concern about after my speech is, does everybody really listen to my speech and will start to concern those effects fast food contains to our society. If they will think more about it before they go to McDonald’s or KFC, then I can definitely sure that I success in doing this speech.
